Nigerian Flag
Nigeria gained independence
from Britain on October 1, 1960 and the flag was adopted to
represent our freedom from slavery and to also serve as a symbol
of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The Flag is very simple in
design, yet very powerful.
It was designed by Taiwo Akinkunmi in 1958, who was then, a
student, but the flag was first hoisted on the day of
independence.
It comprises of three equal
parts, two outer green colored sections and a middle white
section. The green color represents agriculture while the white
color depicts unity and peace.
